PREPARATION

Staff Selection

Before training begins, each recruit must pass an aptitude test; only those who meet the required standard proceed to the four‑week course. The test is designed to verify baseline abilities and suitability for training so time and resources are focused on candidates likely to succeed.

Key points
– Purpose: confirm basic cognitive, judgment and communication skills needed for the role.
– Typical components: short cognitive/reasoning questions, situational‑judgement scenarios related to security tasks, basic literacy/numeracy and a brief interview or communications assessment. (A simple physical check may be included where job‑specific.)
– Outcome: results are recorded; successful candidates progress to the training programme. Those who do not meet the standard receive feedback and may be considered for future intake after further preparation.

 

Staff Training

Our training program is a four-week course coordinated by the GS Training Officer designed to equip recruits with the practical skills and decision-making strategies required for their duties. The course combines classroom instruction with hands-on exercises and scenario-based drills to ensure recruits can apply procedures under real-world conditions.

Core modules include:
– Security procedures and patrol techniques
– Incident management, conflict de-escalation and use-of-force principles
– Emergency response, first aid and fire safety
– Customer service, site-specific protocols and access control
– Report writing, radio communications and legal/ethical responsibilities

Recruits are assessed throughout the course and must pass competency evaluations to qualify for deployment. Graduates receive certification and enter an ongoing program of mentoring, refresher training and periodic re‑certification to maintain performance standards.
